Suspected MERS case in Vietnam tested negative

Xinhua, June 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

Tests on sample of a Russian citizen have showed negative with the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome ( MERS), said Vietnam's General Department of Preventive Medicine in capital Hanoi on Wednesday.

According to the test result, MERS prevention and isolation measures on the female Russian visitor and those who have contacts with her will be removed gradually.

The patient will receive consultation and treatment for normal diseases, said the department on its website on Wednesday.

Earlier, the visitor traveled to Vietnam after transiting at international airports in the United Arab Emirates and Thailand.

Hospitalized with symptoms of fever, sore throat, coughing and difficulty in breathing, the Russian citizen was later isolated for suspected MERS infection on Tuesday.

So far, Vietnam has reported no MERS cases. All suspected cases were then tested negative with MERS, according to the department. Endi
