Afghan forces kill 5 Taliban fighters

Clashes between security forces and Taliban in Baghlan province with Pul-e-Khumri as its capital 160 km north of Kabul, have left five Taliban militants dead, a local official said Wednesday.

"The clash erupted in Baghlan-e-Markazi district late Tuesday night and so far five rebels including a Taliban local commander Qari Mangal have been killed," district governor Gohar Khan Babri told reporters here.

The cleanup operations have been going on against Taliban militants to ensure law and order there, the official added.

Taliban militants who are active in Baghlan-e-Markazi district over the past couple of years have yet to make comments. Endi
