Child car seats recalled in Australia over safety concerns

Almost 11,000 child car seats have been recalled across Australia over serious safety concerns.

Almost 6,000 units The Maxi-Cosi Euro Convertible A2 model will be officially recalled on Friday, one week after 5,000 units of a the new A4 model were also removed from sale after it emerged that the model was distributed without having its safety standard certification, effectively being sold illegally in Australia, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) alleged on Wednesday.

The A2 model is being recalled after Australian parents found the straps restraining the child in the seat could dangerously loosen while driving.

Australian authorities said they would investigate the concerns with the child car safety restraints and consider if the company engaged in misleading practices.

The high-end child safety seats manufactured by Maxi-Cosi - which prides itself on being Europe's most trusted and respected brand - is sold in over 80 countries world-wide, with more than a 250,000 units sold in Australia annually. Endi
