Chinese shares close higher Wednesday

Chinese shares closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 2.48 percent to finish at 4690.15 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index gained 1.66 percent to close at 16312.31 points.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.31 percent to end at 3383.4 points. Endi
