The National Meteorological Center (NMC) continued to issue a blue alert for heavy rain in south and west China on Sunday, the second day of the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday.

From Sunday morning to evening, storm will hit the south and west regions, affecting the provinces of Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang and Anhui as well as Hainan, the NMC said in a statement.

Torrential rain will be seen in the northwestern parts of Hunan, northern areas of Jiangxi, southern areas of Anhui and northwestern areas of Zhejiang, according to the statement.

The NMC warned local authorities to monitor the conditions and take precautions against waterlogging, landslide and other disasters.
