The National Meteorological Center (NMC) has issued a blue alert for heavy rain in south and west China on Saturday, the first day of the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday.

From Saturday to Sunday, storm will hit the south and west regions, affecting the provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang and Fujian as well as the Tibet Autonomous Region, the NMC said in a statement.

Torrential rain will be seen in the central parts of Guizhou and the western areas of Hunan, according to the statement.

The NMC warned local authorities to monitor the conditions and take precautions against waterlogging, landslide and other disasters.

China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow and blue. Endi
