Thai legislature approves interim charter amendments

Xinhua, June 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

Thailand's National Legislative Assembly (NLA) on Thursday approved amendments to the 2014 interim constitution in three readings.

The NLA voted 203 to nothing, with three abstentions, in the third reading to accept the amendments.

The amendments will be submitted to the king for endorsement.

The cabinet-proposed amendments stipulated that the draft of a permanent constitution be put to a referendum after being approved by the National Reform Council (NRC), the time frame of the Constitution Drafting Committee be extended, the NRC be dissolved after voting on the permanent charter and then replaced by a reform mobilization committee, among others.
