Vietnamese delegation awarded 1 mln USD after SEA Games

Besides awards of some 15 billion Vietnamese dong (691,000 U.S. dollars) according to state regulations, Vietnamese athletes and their trainers who attended the 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games are set to receive over 10 billion Vietnamese dong (461,000 U.S. dollars) from local sponsors.
Some 15 billion Vietnamese dong worth of state money will be awarded to the Vietnamese delegation to the regional sporting event in Singapore, who bagged home 73 golds, 53 silvers and 60 bronzes, Vuong Bich Thang, General Director of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, said on Thursday.
According to Vietnamese regulations, a SEA Games gold, silver or bronze medalist is awarded 45 million, 25 million or 20 million Vietnamese dong (2,074 U.S. dollars, 1,152 U.S. dollars or 922 U.S. dollars), respectively. A SEA Games record breaker receives additional 15 million Vietnamese dong (691 U.S. dollars).
Trainers of Vietnamese medalists receive the same amount of money.
Wining 8 golds and breaking 8 SEA Games records, swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien will receive total awards of over 1 billion Vietnamese dong (more than 46,000 U.S. dollars).
