Elano signs new loan deal with Chennaiyin FC

Former Brazil international midfielder Elano will rejoin Chennaiyin FC on loan for the 2015 Indian Super League season, the club said on Wednesday.

The move follows a successful spell as the franchise's marquee player last year, when he was the competition's leading scorer.

"We are delighted to have retained Elano as our marquee player for the second season," Chennaiyin CEO Ashish Shah said in a statement on the club's website.

"Elano was in outstanding form from the very start of the tournament last time and inspired the rest of the team with both his performances and presence. We look forward to having a successful second season and the enormous experience and quality of Elano will be vital for us in achieving that goal."

Capped 50 times for Brazil, Elano is currently tied to Santos, who he helped win the Sao Paulo state championship in April.

"I am thrilled to sign for Chennaiyin FC to play in the second season of the ISL," said the former Manchester City player.

"I have fantastic memories of my first season in India, where I really enjoyed performing in front of some great support especially in our Marina Arena in Chennai."

The Indian Super League season will begin on October 3 with the final scheduled for December 20. Endi
