Singapore boosts collaboration with global partners in water related research, technology

Xinhua, June 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency, signed two memorandums of understanding (MoU) to deepen collaboration with global partners for knowledge sharing and capability building in water related research and technology on Tuesday.

The first MoU was signed with the ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) Water Resources Research and Development Center. The second was signed with VCS Denmark, Denmark's third largest water and wastewater utility.

The MoU with PUB will allow ASEM Water Resources Research and Development Center to tap on Singapore's experience in water quality management and energy recovery from the used water reclamation process, meanwhile enabling PUB to access the networks among ASEM members to bolster its understanding of leading-edge solutions in Asia and Europe.

The MoU with VCS Denmark marks a major milestone in the cooperation between Singapore and Denmark in water solutions. Both sides recognized the benefit of accelerating the sharing and creation of solutions by tapping on each other's strengths in areas such as wastewater technology and operations, energy reduction, and climate adaptation.

The two agreements were signed on the sidelines of Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) Technology and Innovation Summit ( STIS), which is scheduled from Tuesday to Wednesday.

The summit brings together approximately 300 senior delegates to develop a global blueprint for water solutions. As part of the SIWW Spotlight event series, STIS aims to continue dialogue on pressing challenges faced by the water industry worldwide. Endi
