(Sports)Lebanon beat hosts Laos at World Cup qualification

Xinhua, June 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

Lebanon has kept its World Cup qualification hopes alive after overcoming hosts Laos 2-0 in their Group G encounter in Vientiane.

A slip up by Laos captain goalkeeper Phoutpasong Sengdalavong saw forward Mohamad Ghaddar take the opportunity to put the visitors up just 5 minutes in.

Opportunities for both sides followed but the scores remained unchanged at the halftime break.

The second half saw the legs fall off Laos attack, with some sloppy errors preventing the side from capitalizing on the few chances available.

The result was settled in the 75th minute when Lebanon forward Fayez Chamsine deftly penetrated the Lao defense for a goal off his right boot from the right wing.

Both teams are set to meet again when Lebanon plays host in a rematch on November 12. Endi
