Vietnam arrests 6 online shopping cheaters

Xinhua, June 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

Six Vietnamese men were arrested here on Tuesday for pretending to run online stores and cheating customers, local online newspaper Thanh Nien (Young People) News reported.

Police arrested the men, aged 21 to 27, from various locations in Ho Chi Minh City.

Investigation found that the suspects advertised electronics, mostly cell phones, at cheap prices online. They also offered to help clients obtain land and housing papers. In fact, they did not have any real products or services to offer.

Police said the suspects had used lost ID cards of others to open bank accounts to avoid being detected. An officer said the group has operated for a long time and scammed many people.

He said their bank accounts have received tens of thousands of U.S. dollars. Endi
