(Sports)Afghanistan beat host Cambodia in 2018 World Cup qualifiers

Afghan national football team on Tuesday defeated host Cambodian 1-0 in the second round tally of the Group E matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Played at the Olympic Stadium in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh, the game attracted a crowd of approximately 50,000.

In the first half, both sides had several goal-scoring chances, but failed. Entering the second half, Afghan player Mustafa Zazai net a ball in the 86th minute.

Afghanistan is ranked 151 in the world, as Cambodia sits at 178, according to the FIFA ranking.

It was Cambodia's second defeat at home in the second round of World Cup qualifiers. Last Thursday, it lost to Singapore 0-4.

Cambodia will continue to host the round 2 qualification matches, facing Syria on September 8 and Japan on November 17.

The round 2 qualification matches started on June 11 and will run until March 29, 2016. Endi
