Stuttgart's goalkeeper Sven Ulreich joins Bayern Munich

Xinhua, June 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

Reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have signed Stuttgart goalkeeper Sven Ulreich, both clubs confirmed in official statements on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old custodian Sven Ulreich put pen to paper on a three-year deal, until June 2018, with the German record champions to close the chapter in Stuttgart after 17 years and 176 Bundesliga appearances.

"After so many years in Stuttgart I was looking for a new challenge. Bayern is the right place for that. I'm looking forward to meet the whole team and all the new things that come up. I want to contribute to the club's success," the new arrival said.

Ulreich made 28 Bundesliga appearances last season. He played overall 220 official matches for the "VfB" .

"We are very pleased that we were able to sign with Sven Ulreich an experienced Bundesliga goalkeeper," Bayern's executive vice chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen told the club's official homepage.

Both clubs agreed to keep silence over further transfer details.

Ulreich will face a tough job, as he will compete with German international goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who is the uncontested No. 1 between the posts in Pep Guardiola's squad.

Bayern lifted their 25th Bundesliga title last season meanwhile Stuttgart avoided their relegation into the second-division at the last round of the season. Endi
