Lebanon bests hosts Laos 2-0 in FIFA World Cup qualifying

Xinhua, June 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

Lebanon kept its FIFA World Cup qualification hopes alive after overcoming hosts Laos 2-0 in their Group G encounter in Vientiane.

A slip up by Laos' captain goalkeeper Phoutpasong Sengdalavong saw forward Mohamad Ghaddar take the opportunity to put the visitors up just 5 minutes in.

Opportunities for both sides followed but the scores remained unchanged at the halftime break.

The second half saw the legs fall off Laos' attack, with some sloppy errors preventing the side from capitalizing on the few chances available.

The result was settled in the 75th minute when Lebanon forward Fayez Chamsine deftly penetrated the Lao defence for a goal off his right boot from the right wing.

Both teams are set to meet again when Lebanon plays host on Nov. 12. Endi
