Xinhua, June 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili on Sunday declared June 15 the day of mourning for victims in a sudden rainstorm that hit the capital city overnight on Saturday.

"Unfortunately, the natural disaster has left several people dead. I would like to offer my deepest condolences to their families," Gharibashvili said.

"This is a big tragedy and I would like the 15th of June to be declared a day of mourning, in order to pay tribute to those who perished in the flood that struck the city," he added.

According to the prime minister, the Georgian government has already prepared a corresponding decree for the mourning day.

A sudden rainstorm hit the Georgian capital of Tbilisi at midnight Saturday, leaving at least 12 people dead and dozens of others missing. Endi
