Madagascar's High Constitutional Court (HCC) rejected parliament's bid to dismiss the President Hery Rajaonarimampianina, the HCC website said on Saturday.

"The demand of the parliament to impeach the president is received. The HCC rejects it because it is unfounded," the president of HCC Jean Eric Rakotoarisoa said at the HCC website. (Madagascar-President-Impeachment)

TEHRAN -- Iran will not allow secrets of country to be revealed with the implementation of Non-Proliferation Treaty's (NPT) additional protocol, which allows snap checks on nuclear facilities, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said here on Saturday.

Iran will voluntarily implement NPT's additional protocol to enhance the transparency of Iran's nuclear activities like other countries that have accepted the protocol, Rouhani said, adding that "however, Iran will not allow the military and technological secrets of the country to be accessed by others under the pretext of this protocol." DAMASCUS -- Three Syrian officers were confirmed killed when their helicopter was dropped down by the Islamic State (IS) militants in the northern province of Aleppo, a monitor group reported Saturday.

The helicopter was downed by the IS overnight in the vicinity of the Kwers airbase, which is besieged by the IS militants in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. (Syria-IS-Helicopter)

NEW DELHI -- At least five persons died and over 100 others were hospitalized after inhaling ammonia gas that leaked from a tanker in the northern Indian state of Punjab on Saturday, a senior police official said.

"The leak started after the tanker got stuck under a flyover on the Doraha Bypass Road in the state's Ludhiana district early in the morning. Gas started leaking soon after from a valve," he said on condition of anonymity. (India-Gas-Leak)

LISBON -- Portugal faces a "tangible risk" of not meeting its budget deficit target this year if there are no further cuts in spending, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) warned Friday.
