China's airliners strengthen MERS procedures

Xinhua, June 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

China's top aviation authority has ordered airlines to enhance Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) prevention and control on flights to and from the Republic of Korea (ROK).

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has ordered airline companies to strengthen education of crew members about the virus and enhance disinfection after passengers disembark.

Meanwhile, the CAAC requires airline companies to report immediately to local hygiene and quarantine authorities in case of suspected MERS cases.

Due to the MERS impact, Chinese airline companies including China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines have been scaling down their flights to the ROK.

The ROK's health and welfare ministry said on Friday that four more people tested positive for the MERS virus, bringing the total number of people infected with the virus there to 126. Endi
