At least 25 passengers were killed and several others sustained burn injuries after a high-voltage power line fell on a bus in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan Friday, a senior police official said.
"The mishap happened in the state's Tonk district when some 50 people were going to a marriage function. The power wire suddenly snapped and fell on the bus," he said on condition of anonymity. ( India-Road Mishap)

YANGON -- The Myanmar government said on Friday that it will be closely watching Kokang ethnic army's movement following the group 's unilateral ceasefire declared on Wednesday.
Director of the President's Office U Zaw Htay said the government will monitor the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army's (MNDAA) military movement to see if it is observing its announcement.
With regard to MNDAA's ceasefire, Myanmar's Defense Ministry has not yet given any instruction to its army units, the government's Laukkai administrative authorities said, adding that the military is still taking measures to ensure regional peace despite reduced tension. (Myanmar-Kokang-Ceasefire)

NEW DELHI -- The Indian capital and its surrounding areas continued to swelter Friday in a 40-plus-degree Celsius heat wave, while meteorological department predicted continuous hot weather in coming days.
The northern states of Haryana and Punjab's mercury settled above normal level, with most parts sizzling at 42-plus degrees Celsius. While officials put the heat in Delhi at around 40 degrees, the temperature was much higher during the day time. ( India-Heat)

KUALA LUMPUR -- Four Westerners who allegedly took nude photos on Mount Kinabulu were sentenced to three days in jail on Friday by a Malaysian court, according to local media reports.
Two Canadian siblings, a Dutch and a Briton pleaded guilty to a charge of obscene behavior in a public place.
