The Visegrad Four (V4) countries - the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia - should strengthen their relations, announced Zbigniew Kruzynski, new International Visegrad Fund head on Tuesday.
Kruzynski is also inclined towards expanding the Visegrad Four group.
"The future of cooperation is in the 'Visegrad Plus' format, which means dealing with problems with countries outside the V4, including both neighboring and other countries, within a common platform," said Kruzynski, who wants to continue to pursue the original goals of the institutions, supporting not only the third sector, but also innovative enterprises and joint projects in the academic and business sectors.
The International Visegrad Fund, which marks its 15th anniversary on Tuesday, allocated a total of 8 million euros (8.9 million U.S. dollars) from the governments of all V4 countries this year. Another 4.5 million euros was distributed by the Fund to projects from grants donated by the governments of South Korea, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.
Over the past 15 years of its existence the International Visegrad Fund has supported more than 1,500 projects with a total of 62 million euros. Endit
