Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) wrapped up their two-day summit on Monday with a pledge to take actions on issues ranging from climate change, world trade to the Ukraine conflict and the fight against terrorism.

VIENNA -- A high-security trial against 10 suspects alleged to have planned to join militant group Islamic State (IS) has begun at the Vienna Regional Court for Criminal Matters in Austria on Monday, Kronen Zeitung newspaper reported.

The Vienna-based suspects, consisting of nine Chechens and one Turkish national, were arrested in August 2014 as they were about to leave the country allegedly to join IS in Syria. (Austria-Trial-IS)

REYKJAVIK -- Iceland's government Monday announced a plan to remove the long-existing capitals control by imposing a 39 percent stability tax on the estates of the failed Icelandic banks.

"It is clear we can't wait any longer. We need to take measures for the banks to enter into composition to enable lifting of the controls," Iceland's Prime Minister Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson said. (Iceland-Capital Control)

WASHINGTON -- A grand jury on Monday indicted a white former police officer on a murder charge for fatally shooting a black man earlier April in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Former officer Michael Slager, 33, had been jailed since earlier April after being charged with murdering the 50-year-old black Walter Scott by shooting at Scott's back eight times while Scott was running away from him. (U.S.-Police-Indictment)

JERUSALEM -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday called on the Palestinians to start "open-ended" direct peace talks with Israel "without preconditions."
