After Panama's national soccer team was hammered 4-0 by Ecuador in Guayaquil on Saturday, local press said the result is a call for attention about the team's failure, especially towards CONCACAF Gold Cup to be held in the United States and Canada in July.
Local daily "La Prensa" said the result showed the worst performance of the national team, while Ecuador received a morale boost towards Copa America, the regional tournament to be held in Chile from June 11 to July 4.
"La Prensa" also stressed Saturday's result is Panama's second worst defeat since Colombian coach Hernan Dario "Bolillo" Gomez took over the team from June 3, 2014.
Local daily "La Estrella" said Ecuador revealed Panama's failure in a game played without ideas and desires to win.
"La Estrella" also said Panamanian fans were terribly disappointed after Saturday's result, since they expected a better performance considering the 1-1 draw in their previous game against Ecuador held days ago in Panama City.
For daily "El Panama America", Saturday's match was dull and without shine, adding that the Panamanian team had one of its worst performances since it is led by "Bolillo". Endi
