Nearly 10,000 Icelandic people came out of home to the sunny streets on Saturday for a color run in this world's northernmost capital city.
The Color Run, in which runners are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer, was launched in the United States in 2012 with the aim of helping promote healthiness and happiness. It has already won popularity in more than 30 countries, however, it was the first event of the kind held in Iceland.
As one of the organizers, Claus Nielsen told Xinhua that they have introduced this event to Iceland to bring people together for what they called the happiest five-kilometer run on the planet.
Participating in the fun run together with her boy friend and younger brother, Astros Gudfinnsdottir told Xinhua that she was excited to experience the run for the first time.
"I was so excited and I came here with my brother. And it has been the most amazing day ever," she said.
Expressing how he loved the color run, teenage Kristofer Geirsson told Xinhua that this event has come for the people who is enjoying life.
"I know it's really a fun in my heart. It's really a fun for your family, for your friends. I love it," he said.
When the run wrapped up, the colors continued to fly as the participants enjoy a rainbow party just beyond the finish line. Endit
