Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban discussed bilateral cooperation with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi here on Saturday.
Orban said China is an important partner of Hungary and he highly appreciates the great achievements China has made, and firmly supports China's "Belt and Road" initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping, adding that the initiatives have a great historical and economic significance.
Hungary is willing to carry out closer cooperation with China in infrastructure and the financial sectors, Orban said. He said Hungary will actively participate in the cooperation between China and 16 CEE countries in the "16+1" format, and will make positive contributions to the development of EU-China relations.
Wang said the relations between Hungary and China are in the best periods in history, and he highly appreciates Orban's personal efforts in pushing forward the "Belt and Road" initiatives.
He also said that China will work together with Hungary to step up the modernization of the Budapest-Belgrade railroad, and the construction of China-Europe land-sea express line and other major infrastructure projects.
Meanwhile, the two sides should continue to expand trade and the scope of financial cooperation, actively carry out industrial investment cooperation, and promote bilateral pragmatic cooperation to a higher level, Wang said. Endit
