SCO interior ministers meet on fighting transnational crimes

The interior ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states gathered here on Friday for a meeting on coordination of activities of the organization in fighting transnational crimes.

The participants, including China's Public Security Minister Guo Shengkun, SCO Secretary-General Dmitry Mezentsev and the interior ministers of the other SCO member countries, are expected to discuss issues related to coordination of activities of the law enforcement agencies of the SCO member countries in combating transnational crimes and trafficking in weapons and drugs.

The SCO, founded in 2001, currently has six member states -- China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. It also has Afghanistan, India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan as observers and Belarus, Turkey and Sri Lanka as dialogue partners. Endi
