China stresses work safety in flood season

As rainy season has arrived, local authorities has been ordered to give more attention to protection and safety efforts.

Local governments should carry out thorough safety inspection on reservoirs, construction sites, roads, railways and tourist attractions, said a joint notice issued by the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, and the State Administration of Work Safety on Wednesday.

Priority should be given to formulating emergency plans, rescue and relief work, and the preparation of relief supplies, said the notice.

China's National Meteorological Center (NMC) on Tuesday issued a yellow alert for storms in southern regions. China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe weather, followed by orange, yellow and blue. Endi
