Nepal's president, premier, foreign minister express condolence to Chinese counterparts

Nepali President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and Foreign Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey have expressed heartfelt condolence on the loss of lives and many other missing by capsizing a cruise ship in the Yangtze River in Hubei Province of China.

In a condolence message to Chinese President Xi Jinping, Nepal' s President Yadav has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of those who have lost their loved ones, Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, in a separate condolence message to his Chinese counterpart Ki Keqiang, Nepal's Prime Minister Koirala expressed his sadness on sinking of the ship that claimed several precious lives with hundreds reported missing.

"Our deep thoughts and prayers are with the passengers on board for their safety", the prime minister mentioned in his message.

Nepal's Foreign Minister Pandey also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the victims and the bereaved families as well as to the Chinese government in his condolence message.

According to the ministry, in his message the Nepali foreign minister stated that the government and people of Nepal stand together with the government and people of China in these tragic circumstances.

A passenger ship carrying 458 people sank Monday night in the Hubei section of China's Yangtze River.The ship, named Dongfangzhixing (Eastern Star), sank at around 9:28 p.m. local time in the Jianli section of the Yangtze River. Endi
