Stocks open flat amid concerns

Xinhua, June 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

Australian stocks opened flat in anticipation of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) interest rate decision on Tuesday.

The benchmark ASX/S&P 200 is down 0.05 percent at 5732.4 points while the broader All Ordinaries index opened down 0.02 percent at 5732.7 points.

Materials dragged the markets back in early trade, slipping 0. 39 percent.

BHP Billiton lost 1.27 percent, joined by Rio Tinto slipping 0. 54 percent.

Healthcare stocks performed best, up 0.61 percent as a sector.

CMC chief market strategist Michael McCarthy told Business Review the dominant influence on the session would likely be the RBA's interest rate decision and statement on Tuesday afternoon.

The RBA is expected to leave the official cash rate unchanged. Endi
