Tokyo shares open higher on yen's further falling

Tokyo shares opened higher Tuesday on the yen's further depreciation against the U.S. dollar which traded at the 124.8 yen level in the overnight U.S. forex market.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 47.40 points, or 0.23 percent, from Monday to 20,617.27.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 3.14 points, or 0.19 percent, at 1,681. 70. Endi
