Bolivia announces 23-man squad ahead of Copa America

The 23 players who will make up the Bolivian national football team at the Copa America 2015 tournament were announced by national coach Mauricio Soria on Monday, 10 days before the international tournament kicks off.

Through telephone interviews with Bolivian radio stations, the coach said midfielder Alejandro Melean, forward Juan Carlos Arce and defender Ramiro Ballivian have narrowly missed out on the final selection.

However, the players who weren't chosen should continue training as they still could be called up if one of the 23 get injured, added Soria.

The national squad are gearing up for a friendly match against Argentina on Sunday which will be the only preparation match the team will have before the tournament which runs from June 11 to July 04.

The national team for Copa America tournament includes the following players: Romel Quinonez in goals; Miguel Hurtado, Ronald Eguino, Edward Zenteno and Leonel Morales in defence; Walter Veizaga, Danny Bejarano, Damian Lizio and Martin Smedeberg in midfield; Pablo Escobar and Marcelo Martins on the offense.

The 23 players will take to the field in their first match of the tournament against Mexico on June 12 in Vina del Mar.

The Bolivian team form part of group A in the tournament alongside Mexico, Ecuador and hosts Chile. Enditem
