PLA navy pilots hone skills in open sea drills

Xinhua, June 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Aviators with the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy have upgraded their combat capabilities and expanded the scope of operations following multiple open sea drills, according to the navy's pilot training department.

The PLA Navy has regularly held drills involving multiple types of aircraft in the West Pacific Ocean in recent years, aiming to expand the scope of sea and air operations and sharpen combat abilities in unknown territories and extreme weather conditions.

In a statement on Monday, the department said that vessel-plane coordination has been a crucial aspect of recent drills as the navy looks to sharpen efficiency in a wide range of areas, including reconnaissance and early warning, high-precision assault, support and cover, and anti-air defense. Endi
