Xinhua, June 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Afghan police laid ambush and killed two Taliban commanders in Marjah district of the southern Helmand province with Lashkar Gah as its capital 555 km south of national capital Kabul Sunday night, Interior Ministry said in a statement released here on Monday. "Units of national police had killed two armed insurgents' commanders in an ambush in Shaki village, Marjah district of Helmand province, last night,"the statement said.

Without giving more details, the statement of Interior Ministry added that one woman was killed and four other civilians wounded when a rocket hit a residential place in Shila village of Sangin district, Helmand province on Sunday night.

Notorious for growing poppy and Taliban-led militancy, Helmand has been the scene of fierce fighting between security forces and armed militants over the past several months. Endi
