Iraqi security forces on Saturday continued their fighting against the Islamic State (IS) militants in the western Anbar province, while the country's air strikes killed 28 IS militants, including senior leaders, security sources and official television said.

In Anbar province, the security forces and allied militias known as Hashd Shaabi, or Popular Mobilization, moved closer to the IS-held provincial capital city of Ramadi, some 110 km west of Baghdad, and seized the provincial traffic police headquarters after fierce clashes with the IS militants, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. SINGAPORE -- Singapore's Defense Minister Ng Eng Hen on Saturday called on countries to be patient in solving the South China Sea dispute.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the ongoing Shangri- La Dialogue in Singapore, the defense minister said "Let us not get frustrated by the process. Let us recognize that it will be difficult. These dispute claims have gone on for a long time". (Singapore-South-China-Sea)

ZAMBOANGA, Philippines -- At least 18 people were injured Friday night in twin explosions that hit a compound near a police headquarters in the southern Philippine city of Jolo, security officials said Saturday.

Security officials blamed the Abu Sayyaf group for the attacks, who were supposed to retaliate the death of their member last week during a police operation. (Philippines-Explosions-Police)

KABUL -- Some 93 militants and nine Afghan army personnel have been killed during military operations and clashes within the past two days, a Defense Ministry spokesman said on Saturday.

"Over the past 48 hours, 93 militants have been killed and seven arrested in 12 provinces while nine army soldiers died as a result of clashes and bomb explosions," spokesman General Zahir Azimi said on his twitter account. (Afghanistan-Army-Attacks)

ISLAMABAD -- A group of unknown militants on Friday night killed at least 15 passengers after kidnapping them in Pakistan's southwestern province of Balochistan, local media reported.
