Swiss FM to visit Vietnam to boost ties

Swiss Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter is expected to pay an official visit to Vietnam on June 1-3 at the invitation of Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

Le Hai Binh, spokesperson of Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs made the announcement at a regular press briefing held in capital Hanoi on Thursday.

According to Binh, during the visit, the two sides will discuss measures to boost cooperation in areas including politics, diplomacy, economy, investment, education and training as well as coordination in world and regional forums such as the United Nations and the Asia-Europe Meeting among others.

The two officials will also exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest.

On the occasion, Didier Burkhalter will meet with Vietnamese high-ranking leaders, Binh said at the press briefing.

Vietnam and Switzerland established diplomatic relations in 1971. Endi
