Nishikori through to last 16 after receiving bye at Roland Garros

Japanese fifth seed Kei Nishikori enjoyed a walkover into the last 16 at Roland Garros after his third-round opponent German Benjamin Becker announced Thursday to withdraw with an injured shoulder.

Becker suffered a pectoral muscle injury to his right shoulder during a five-set defeat of Fernando Verdasco of Spain on Wednesday, according to a medical bulletin of the organizers

Nishikori, the U.S. Open runner-up last year, will thus get an extended break until Sunday as his clash with German Becker was scheduled for Friday.

The 25-year-old world No. 5, whose previous record at Roland Garros was making the last 16 in 2013, is yet drop a set so far while beating Brazil's Thomaz Bellucci on Wednesday in straight sets. Endi
