Singapore's Central Narcotics Bureau seizes 2.2kg of heroin

Some 2.2 kg of heroin was seized as a 38-year-old suspected drug trafficker was arrested, Singapore 's Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said in a news release on Thursday.

CNB launched an operation on Wednesday evening, and the suspect was arrested within a commercial building by CNB officers. He was believed to be awaiting a fresh consignment of drugs as he had 14, 400 Singapore dollars (10,678 U.S. dollars) with him. The seized heroin was estimated to be worth more than 154,000 Singapore dollars (114,191 U.S. dollars).

The other man, a 27-year-old Malaysian, was stopped at Woodlands Checkpoint when attempting to exit Singapore. About 8, 000 Singapore dollars (5,932 U.S. dollars) was recovered from the man and his 26-year-old Malaysian companion.

In a follow-up investigation, CNB officers arrested another 27- year-old Singaporean male. Investigation into the three males and one female are currently ongoing. If convicted, the 38-year-old Singaporean male and the 27-year-old Malaysian male may face the death penalty. Endi
