Singapore gov't to launch ICT tenders to push Smart Nation vision

Singapore government will launch some 2.2 billion Singapore dollars (1.63 billion U.S. dollars) worth of information and communications technology (ICT) tenders in the financial year of 2015, announced Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) on Wednesday.

IDA said that the projected spending will be higher than the 1. 95 billion Singapore dollars (1.44 billion U.S. dollars) spent the year before. Key areas of procurement will be focused on digital and data services, web services, infocomm infrastructure, as well as the development of the Smart Nation Platform.

The investments in ICT is to realize the Smart Nation vision, which facilitates the city state using technology to improve lives and business. Singapore government will seek collaboration with the industry to build capabilities and develop more citizen- centric services.

Some of the tenders will include a new work pass system and a finance and procurement system by the Ministry of Manpower. While the Education Ministry will acquire technology services to build and extend its infrastructure in schools, local media reported. Endi
