China vs Thailand, South Korea vs Chinese Taipei in volleyball Asian championship semis

Xinhua, May 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

China swept Kazakhstan to meet the defending champion Thailand in the semis while South Korea and Chinese Taipei will fight for another ticket to the final of the women's volleyball Asian Championship here.

China continued its perfect record by defeating Kazakhstan 3-0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-11). Since the defending champion Thailand also enjoyed a 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-14) victory over Japan, China now have the chance to revenge as Thailand upset them 3-2 in the semifinal of Asian Championship 2013.

"Thailand is a very stable team on court, our players shall be prepared for an uphill battle," said China head coach Jenny Lang Ping.

Chinese Taipei returned to top four again after 18 years by beating Vietnam 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-19). They will play against South Korea in another semifinal.

South Korea had a 25-17 start in the last match today. But the Iranians managed to come back with 25-22 in the second set when South Korea' s starting line-up are sitting off court. After Kim Yeonkoung returned to the match, the Koreans won two straight sets with 25-17 and 25-14 to secure a ticket to the semifinals. Endi
