An Iranian-American Washington Post reporter stood trial in Iran on Tuesday over espionage charges, local media reported.
Jason Rezaian, 39, along with his wife Yeganeh Salehi and another female photojournalist, appeared in the Branch 15 of Iran's Islamic Revolution Court on Tuesday, Press TV reported.
Rezaian is facing charges of "espionage, collaboration with hostile governments, gathering classified information and disseminating propaganda against the Islamic Republic," his lawyer Leila Ahsan was quoted as saying.
He assumed his job as Washington Post correspondent in Tehran in 2012 and was arrested on July 22, 2014 along with his wife, who is a reporter for The National, an English-language newspaper based in Abu Dhabi, and a female freelance photographer.
Salehi and the photographer were released on bail in October 2014. Endit
