Xinhua, May 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

Unknown gunmen on Monday kidnapped a High Court Judge and killed his police escort in central north Nigeria's Kogi State, local police authority said.

State police area commander, Kehinde Kolawole, said Justice Samuel Obayomi was kidnapped while on his way to work in an early morning attack.

The judge's police escort, Usman Musa was shot dead on the spot by the kidnappers in an operation that took place between 8:40 a.m, local time and 8:45 a.m, local time, the police chief added.

According to him, the driver (Ajayi Kolawole) had been detained to help in police investigations.

Nigeria is one of the worst countries in the world for kidnapping, where it is a lucrative criminal enterprise worth millions of dollars a year.

Kidnapping has become everyone's nightmare in Nigeria. People are being abducted as they go about their daily business. Endi
