Nigerian forces kill more terrorists in military operation: spokesman

Nigerian security forces have killed more Boko Haram terrorists in an operation carried out in the northeastern state of Borno, a military spokesperson said on Monday.
The West African country's defense spokesman Chris Olukolade said in a statement reaching Xinhua that the terrorists also lost a number of weapons and equipment including 13 rifles, a machine gun, rocket propelled grenade tubes and several other assorted ammunition.
According to him, thousands of Euro currency was found on the body of a terrorist commander after troops successfully repelled an attack on Mafa toward the border.
Olukolade said the terrorist who is also an Amir by status and believed to be of foreign descent, is among about 30 terrorist fighters who died in the encounter while many others fled with wounds.
A Toyota Bufallo vehicle was also recovered from the terrorists, the military spokesperson added, noting that two of their armored vehicles were also destroyed in the battle.
He said the only casualty on the side of own troops was a damaged equipment, adding that mopping up operations is ongoing in the general area.
Meanwhile, the offensive on all terrorists hideouts is continuing in many fronts, the military spokesperson added.
Nigerian forces have recently been carrying out aggressive patrols and surveillance by land and air in Borno State and the entire northeast region where the Boko Haram launched deadly attacks since 2009. Endi
