Profile of newly elected Polish President Andrzej Duda

Andrzej Duda was born on May 16, 1972, in Krakow,Poland. His parents, Jan Duda and Janina Milewska-Duda were both professors at the reputable University of Science and Technology in Krakow.

He graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University, obtaining Doctor degree of Juridical Science. He is a member of the European Parliament and a lecturer at the Faculty of Administrative Law of the Jagiellonian University.

In 2005 year, Duda began his cooperation with the Law and Justice (PiS) party. In 2006 he performed the duties of Deputy Minister of Justice in the government of Jaroslaw Kaczynski. In the following years, he was a member of the Tribunal of State (2007-2011) and Undersecretary of State in the Chancellery of President Lech Kaczynski.

During local elections in 2010 he gained a councilor seat, from which he resigned, after becoming a deputy a year later. In the seventh term of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland he was a member of the legislative committee and constitutional responsibility committee. He is one of the founding members of Lech Kaczynski Social Movement.

During the years 2013/2014 he was a spokesman of Law and Justice Party. In 2014 he became a member of the European Parliament.

Polish National Election Commission announced that the official results of Sunday's presidential elections have shown that Andrzej Duda won the election.

Married to Agata Kornhauser-Duda, German language teacher by profession; they have one daughter, Kinga. Endit
