Infighting between Taliban, IS claim 27 lives in W. Afghanistan: local media

Over two dozen Taliban militants and insurgents loyal to the so-called Islamic State or Daesh have been killed in the western Farah province with Farah city as its capital 695 km west of the national capital Kabul city over the past two days, a local television channel reported Monday.

"Clash between Taliban and Daesh outfits which flared up in Khak-e-Safid district of Farah province last evening have so far claimed the lives of 15 Daesh insurgents and 12 Taliban fighters," Tolo reported in its news bulletin.

Taliban militants who want Daesh outfit to abandon Afghanistan, have also captured 12 more rival fighters in the fighting which is still going on, the television channel added.

It is the second time that fighting between Taliban and Daesh, the two anti-government extremist groups has been reported in Afghanistan.

The previous clash, according to media reports, had taken place in Chaparhar district of the eastern Nangarhar province couple of weeks ago.
