FTSE 100 up 0.26 pct on Friday

FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Friday increased by 0.26 percent, or 18.25 points, to 7,031.72 points.

Decent performances from some companies lifted the London stock index to a two-week high on Friday. Good economic data from Britain also boosted the index.

British government saw a fiscal deficit of 6.8 billion pounds (or 10.6 billion U.S. dollars) in April 2015, a decrease of 2.5 billion pounds compared with a year earlier, said the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Friday.

Vodafone Group's share price increased by 4.64 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips. Travis Perkins, Dixons Carphone, Randgold Resources Ltd. and Weir Group increased by 1.47 percent, 1.41 percent, 1.40 percent and 1.10 percent respectively.

International Consolidated Airlines Group SA led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 2.08 percent, followed by TUI AG Reg Shs (1.99 percent), BT Group (1.76 percent), Antofagasta (1.40 percent) and easyJet (1.18 percent).

The index has gained 9.12 percent so far this year when measured in U.S. dollar. Endit
