Malta Int'l Airport witnesses 15 pct increase of net profit in 2014

Xinhua, May 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

Malta International Airport (MIA) plc has reported a net profit of 16.8 million euros (18.8 million US dollar) for year ending 2014, marking an increase of 15 per cent compared with the year of 2013, according to MIA's official website.

Addressing the shareholders, MIA chairman Nikolaus Gretzmacher noted that the company's strategy to increase traffic was working, and that its collaborated effort to make Malta an all year round destination was bearing fruit.

In his review for the year, CEO of MIA Alan Borg outlined various investments and projects that are currently being finalized just before the peak season. These include the expansion of the non-Schengen area, new back-up power generation systems, an extension to its security screening area and further terminal improvements.

"We are investing in projects that will not only increase capacity at the airport but also lead to a better experience for our customers," he said. Endit
