Xinhua, May 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

Vietnam is expected to grasp four to five gold medals from fencing at the upcoming 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games to be held in Singapore in June.

"With careful preparation, we hope the Vietnamese fencers will gain four to five gold medals," Phung Le Quang, head of fencing section of the National Sports Administration was quoted by Vietnam News, an edition of Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA on Friday.

According to the National Sports Administration, in preparation for the games, the Vietnamese epee team and sabre team has trained in South Korea, while the foil team has practiced in China.

Vietnam will send 24 fencers competing for 12 medal sets in the men's and women's individual and team sabre, foil and epee events in Singapore.

Vietnam sets a target to remain in the top three in the medal tally of the biennial games, which will be held in Singapore from June 5 to 16.

At the previous SEA Games held in Myanmar in 2013, Vietnam grasped 74 gold, 85 silver and 86 bronze medals to rank the third place. Endi
