Albanian National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) Thursday released the Labor Force Survey for 2014, showing figures about the gender oriented work force in Albania, where males dominate in the labor market.

The labor force aged between 15-64 years old is 1,225 thousands people, 57.4 percent males and 42.6 percent females, according to INSTAT.

The participation rate of males aged between 15 and 64 years old in the labor force is 72.2 percent, while for females the percentage is 51.3 percent.

INSTAT said that during 2014 the gross average monthly pay per male employee was estimated at 47,664 lek (380 U.S. dollars) and per female employee it was 42,852 lek, or men's salaries are 10 percent higher than women's.

Gender gap in salary varies depending on the type of enterprise with men employed in foreign enterprises getting a gross average salary twice as high as women.

Males aged between 15 and 64 years old mostly work in the agriculture sector but in a lower rate than women. Enditem
