Tokyo shares end slightly higher

Xinhua, May 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

Tokyo shares ended slightly higher on Thursday as the yen lost its fast depreciation speed in the morning and the forex change impacted the optimism over domestic earnings.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 6.31 points, or 0. 03 percent, from Wednesday at 20,202.87.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange inched 3.40 points, or 0.21 percent, higher at 1,646.80.

Gainers were led by insurance and nonferrous metals, while metal products and financial services led the decliners.

The turnover was about 2,799.9 billion yen (about 23.10 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
