Wolfsburg's sporting director Klaus Allofs signs contract extension

Xinhua, May 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Wolfsburg and sporting director Klaus Allofs agreed on a contract extension until 2019, the " Wolves" confirmed on Tuesday.

The "Wolves" and Allofs extended their cooperation for another three years. The 58-year-old sporting director penned a three-year contract extension, ahead of schedule, until June 2019.

"Klaus Allofs was a lucky find for Wolfsburg. He has brought the club what we want, namely, in the upper third of the Bundesliga and into the international business. We are delighted that Klaus Allofs will continue his work here. Our path is not over yet," Wolfsburg's chairman of the supervisory board Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz said.

After ten years at league rivals Werder Bremen Allofs joined Wolfsburg in November 2012.

"I would like to thank the supervisory board for the confidence and the excellent cooperation. After almost three years we reached our first milestones but we are not yet there where we want to go. I approached this task with the aim to substantially establish Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga and international competitions," Allofs said.

With one round to play this season, the "Wolves" sit currently on the second place of the Bundesliga standings, which is a direct ticket for UEFA Champions League group stage. Wolfsburg face newly promoted Cologne on the road for the last match of the season. Endite
