Turkish football club Fenerbahce Chairman Aziz Yildirimfor was fined for threatening a referee at a critical league game last week, Turkish Football Federation stated Tuesday.

Yildirim got a 100-day deprivation of rights as chairman and a fine of 46,500 Turkish liras ($17,870) as it wrote in the statement.

The ruling by the federation's discipline council came after Yildirim allegedly threatened the referee of last week's match between Fenerbahce and Suat Altin Insaat Kayseri Erciyesspor, local news reported.

Title contenders Fenerbahce suffered a critical tie against Kayseri Erciyesspor on match day 31, straining its chances for a league-high 20th championship in Turkish super league.
